Witnessing the Need for Beds in Guilford County

Greensboro Firefighter Phil Rash Donates 20 Beds to Kids in Guilford County

As a first responder in Greensboro, Phil Rash has witnessed the distressing living conditions of many households, including the lack of basic needs such as a bed to sleep in.

Reports indicate that 2-3% of American children do not have a bed to sleep in, and Rash is taking action to address this issue in Guilford County.

Partnering with A Bed and a Book Nonprofit

To provide clean, comfortable, and age-appropriate beds and books to children aged 0 to 18, Rash has partnered with A Bed and a Book, a local nonprofit organization.

Anneliese Wall, the organization's President and Founder, started the organization three years ago in Forsyth County, and it has expanded to Greensboro and High Point, providing over 400 beds to children who were sleeping on the floor.

20 Beds for 20 Children in Greensboro

Rash and his fire crew plan to assemble and deliver 20 beds to children in the Greensboro area through A Bed and a Book.

This donation will help tackle a long list of families waiting for a bed.

Many children in the area currently sleep on their own clothes, pallets of towels, or deflated air mattresses, which can have a significant impact on their well-being.

Impacting Children's Lives in Guilford County

Each bed, costing approximately $380, includes a brand-new twin bed, mattress, bedding, pillows, and a book set.

Rash's donation will have a significant impact on the lives of children in Guilford County.

Wall hopes to see positive stories from parents about how their children's grades have improved and how they are no longer lethargic in the morning.

Continued Support for A Bed and a Book

A Bed and a Book is always seeking volunteers and donations to help children who do not have a bed to sleep in.

Rash's donation and partnership with the organization highlight the need for continued support to ensure that every child in Guilford County has a comfortable bed to sleep in at night.
