Meet Nancy Vaughn The Mayor of Greensboro North Carolina

Mayor Nancy Vaughn

Mayor Nancy Vaughn proved to Greensboro North Carolina that she is the right woman for the job yet again, as she was just re-elected after an amazing victory over Justin Outling in the 2022 election.

Justin has been a council member of the city since 2015, but voters saw something special in Nancy Vaughn and placed their trust in her once again. As mayor since 2013, she has certainly earned it.

Her accomplishments throughout Greensboro show that Nancy Vaughn is more than capable of taking on all of the responsibilities given to her and carrying them out with grace and dedication.

Re-electing her to let us solidify our belief in her and let Nancy Vaughn guide us through tough times with surety and calm determination.

Early History

Nancy Vaughn was born on a special day in New Jersey and since then she has always been creating history.

From her dad’s job as a teacher and basketball coach, Nancy moved around quite a bit in her early years and experienced different cities and cultures.

Later she settled in Connecticut and attended Fairfield University to study Political Science.

During this time, she learned extensively about public transportation which further shaped Nancy’s understanding of the importance of mass transit in our complex world.

Instead of joining her family when they moved to Greensboro, North Carolina in 1981, Nancy stayed put to tie the knot with the love of her life and start a darling family.

Subsequently, she joined Talley Laundry Machinery where she eventually became the first woman to graduate from their Maintenance Management Institute.

Her impressive history makes one wonder just how far Nancy would have come had she fallen for every shimmering promise that crossed her path.

Political Career

In 1997, Nancy Vaughn began her remarkable political career as the District Four representative in Greensboro, North Carolina as a member of the city council.

She served two terms before temporarily retiring when her daughter was born.

In 2009, she was elected as an At-Large Council Member and eventually elected Mayor of the city in 2013, making her the only council member to serve all three positions.

Throughout her years leading the city of Greensboro, Nancy has always put the best interests of her residents first and has endeared herself to the residents by making sure all regulations from the CDC were followed during the Covid-19 pandemic.

With a confident yet humble tone of voice she states “I am unconflicted by a business or personal interests and you always know where I stand” illustrating that no matter what position she serves in, her loyalty to her constituents never wavers.

During a time of changing political climates, having someone like Nancy is essential for a city to thrive and feel secure under its leadership.
